Lalique Encre Noire Eau de Toilette (EDT) is the iconic masterwork that serves as the foundation for the entire Encre Noire lineup. Created by master perfumer Nathalie Lorson and launched in 2006, it is celebrated as an avant-garde, Woody Aromatic cult classic.
Its name translates to "Black Ink," which perfectly reflects both its striking, minimalist cubic inkwell bottle design and its dark, mysterious, and photorealistic woody aesthetic. It is widely considered a niche-quality artistic perfume available at a remarkably budget-friendly designer price.
The Scent Profile: Deep Woods & Earth
Encre Noire ignores mainstream, sugary-sweet fragrance trends. Instead, it provides a raw, sophisticated, and dry earthy experience:
- Top Notes: Cypress. The initial spray opens with a sharp, dry, and resinous green note, reminiscent of a crisp, dark pine forest.
- Heart Notes: Haitian Vetiver and Bourbon Vetiver. Two distinct varieties of high-quality vetiver dominate the core. This introduces an authentic layer that shifts from clean, grassy wood to a dark, smoky, and ink-like earthiness.

Base Notes: Cashmere Wood and Musk. The dry down softens the stark edges, wrapping the dark vetiver in a smooth, warm, and velvety musk blanket.
Performance & Character- Longevity: Moderate to Long-Lasting (6 to 8 hours). Despite being an EDT, the heavy concentration of vetiver and base woods allows it to cling reliably to the skin and fabric.
